One of the earlier developers of mobile point-of-care technologies is getting ready to swing for the fences. AirStrip Technologies, which has built a suite of products in various stages of development for mobile devices, just named a chief sales officer to drive its RPM business.

Bruce Bandes comes to AirStrip from Healthstream, a SaaS health care company. Aside from knowing the industry inside-out, he’s said to be especially skilled at building both sales infrastructure and strategic alliances with clients and partners.

AirStrip OB--the first FDA-cleared solution built from the AirStrip RPM platform, for use by obstetricians in hospital labor and delivery units-- was first introduced in 2006. Today, it’s in use in nearly 150 hospitals throughout the United States, according to a TMCnet.com report.

The system is designed to deliver a large quantity of data to mobile devices without compromising overall cell phone performance or battery life.

Products coming down the pike include AirStrip Critical Care, AirStrip Cardiology, AirStrip Imaging and AirStrip Laboratory.
